I'm not sure your logic there is very sound, Owen.

This reminds me a lot of Silent Hill The Room which in my opinion was one of the greatest games in an already great series. I feel like there is definitely something deep and psychological behind what Owen is going through. I always get this perpetual impression of him trying to run or leave, but the harder he tries, the more he winds up back where he started. Part of me is expecting him to wake up from a coma at the end of this. That is unless this really is some kind of haunting.

Yep, this comic is very much inspired by the Silent Hill games. The Room was the one I was playing back when I came up with the premise and started writing the first draft of Empty Hallways, and it was a big influence. In fact, it was the game that sparked me to write Silent Hill inspired story several years ago. The very first page of the comic has essentially the same layout I had sketched way back then.

The crazy thing is that of the Silent Hill games I played (The first four and the seventh one), The Room was the one I liked the least. I mean, it's a really good game, but towards the ending it felt so dragged on, I didn't even finish the game. I had already watched my sister play through the entirety of the game though, and she did do the four endings.

My favorite Silent Hill game is the third one. Empty Hallways makes a couple of not at all subtle references to it.
